[Kan-ahead] Aspergers ?

I have a student who has asperger's and has attempted basic English 3 x's
and has taken the English placement test about 4 times trying to make it
into our English 101. Many of us believe that he will never make it
through these classes because of his disability. He does well in classes
that require memorization or the regurgitation of facts to pass tests. We
have tried some tutoring but still don't see much improvement.

Have any of you experienced this and what have you done?

What would you do regarding the English requirements?

Are there substitutions or creative ways to get him through these English
classes?

The ultimate reality may be that he does not have the skills to complete a
degree but I want to hold that to the very end.
