This position is not covered under the Public Employees Retirement System. Continued employment in this position is dependent upon funding and the mutual consent of the University Enterprises and the employee, and either the University Enterprises or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Program continuation is contingent upon funding to the contract. Rate of Pay: $3,116-$4674 per month Minimum Qualifications: Masters' Degree in counseling, psychology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related human services field OR equivalent experience. Demonstrated progressively responsible experience with professional student services. Demonstrated ability to identify academic support needs of students and utilize relevant community resources. PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: Advanced knowledge of support services for the disabled as demonstrated through coursework beyond an undergraduate degree or directly related experience developing, coordinating, managing and providing support services for the disabled. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the application of general counseling techniques as they relate to the disabled. Demonstrated knowledge of physical and learning disabilities and their impact on functional limitations and learning modalities. Demonstrated experience in support services to students with disabilities in post secondary education. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the Student Support Services Project Director, the person in this position coordinates and supervises academic support services for students with physical and learning disabilities at the California State University, Sacramento. Student Support Services is an integral part of the Services to Students with Disabilities (SSWD) office, in the Educational Equity and Student Retention programs under the Academic Affairs Division. The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows: Manages and coordinates the selection and hiring process for more than 80 support service providers. These include readers, note takers, tutors, laboratory assistants, test proctors, etc. who provide on-going academic support to disabled students. Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects support service providers. Coordinates the evaluation of service providers by students. Works closely with disability counselors and disabled students and makes recommendations to ensure effective delivery of support service to students with disabilities. Reviews counselor's authorization for support service and student needs. Trains students, in-group or in individual setting, on the selection and management of service providers. Matches student with service providers. Recommends conflict resolution and problem solving between student and worker. Identifies potential problems by either notifying appropriate disability management counselor or referring students to counselors. Provides feedback and keeps case notes on student's progress, services provided and utilization. Coordinates evaluation of student progress by service providers. Develops and implements orientation/training programs for service providers. These may include disability issues, payroll/timesheet paperwork, and alternative strategies and methods to work with students with disabilities. Determines students' eligibility for various campus services and matches services to individual student's needs. Discusses disability related concerns and refers students to appropriate professional. Confers with university faculty and staff, and utilizes campus and community to effectively serve students with disabilities. Arranges and schedules test accommodation overflow from Testing Center, hires proctors, readers, and scribes, schedules testing rooms, and secures appropriate lights, chairs, tables as needed. Provides statistical information at the end of each semester regarding the use of test accommodations. Maintains and monitors support service expenditures against budget. Monitors disabled students' support services expenditures and utilization of services. Prepares end-of-month reports and special reports on support services as requested. Develops and performs activities designed to increase campus and community awareness and sensitivity to disability issues, which may include speaking engagements, preparing presentation materials and coordinating activities. Recruits service providers and coordinates support services during winter intercession and summer sessions.
